Klotho protein and aging — is supplementation possible?
The Klotho longevity gene has been in the news recently. Higher Klotho levels are associated with better cognition, kidney function, and cardiovascular health. A UCSF team showed that injecting Klotho improved cognition in aging mice. Is there any way to boost Klotho naturally? Or is this purely a future gene therapy target?

Exercise consistently increases circulating Klotho levels. Yet another reason why exercise is the best longevity intervention we have.
Vitamin D may also increase Klotho expression. The VDR-Klotho axis is well-documented in the literature.
Unity Biotechnology is working on a Klotho-based therapeutic. Still early stage but the preclinical data looks good.
